Maternity Wedding Dress

My very very dear Niece is expecting a baby and is now married. It was a wonderful moment to be in Denmark and be part of their very special and very personal day.

During A beautiful intimate ceremony at Aarhus City Hall, Denmark, the two young people tied the knot.

They are expecting a baby very soon, so we designed the bespoke dress with the baby bump in mind.

A soft Jersey dress with light folds in pale peachy pink colour worn with a Kimono style silk crepe du chine print overlay. The silk was hand printed from Beckford Silk.  It was a slight challenge doing the dress on long distance, as everybody knows the later stages of pregnancy the body changes almost daily. Tiny changes were made on the dress on my arrival… no pressure there!

Aarhus City Hall

The City Hall in Aarhus is so very famous in Architect and Design Circles. The City Hall is designed by the famous Danish architects Arne Jacobson and Erik Møller.  In the UK Arne Jacobsen is perhaps most famous for his Egg Chair.  The Danish Architects of that era designed the building and space and the furniture to be within the space. So it ends up as a beautiful solution where it all goes together and flows. Hans Wegner designed the majority of the Furniture, pieces which today are still very popular and sought after. The City Hall was finished in 1941 and today stands pretty much as it was back then.

In my opinion, this is a typical Danish Design, the mix materials, and textures, something I think I use every single day in my design work too. The building is made of concrete plated with marble. The floors are beautiful Parquet floors and there are materials such as Bronce and Kopper.

Aarhus Harbour makes a great backdrop, the harbor has been hugely developed over the last few years and is now a popular place to live work and relax.

thanks a million to Kasper at Lau Fotografi for supplying the images.
