Micro wedding in Shetland

Laura was another one of our summer brides, who had a big wedding planned for June. She was due to have all her family and friends travelling with her to Shetland. They had plans to marry in the grounds of her in-law’s croft on the island of Unst, the most northerly island in Shetland. Instead, they had a beautiful Micro wedding in Shetland, and they had a lovely time.

But you know, then COVID happened! Laura and Alex were keen to get married. For them, it was all about marriage and less so about the wedding. They changed all their plans and ended with a small ceremony in the grounds of the croft. It was so special to them as the croft has been owned by the family in generations, in fact as far back as the 1860es.

The weather was perfect and they managed to have their nearest and dearest there to celebrate with them.

It turned out, Micro wedding in Shetland made for their best day. Such lovely memories, and with just the family there, they had time to spend with everybody. Laura and Alex were so lucky. They managed to have the wedding just between the big lockdown and before the restrictions were tightened again, to not allow ceremonies in non-licensed venues. So they fulfilled all the government requirements on the day.

I absolutely love the story of the music played during the ceremony was composed by Alex’s grandad and it was played on a fiddle. The piece is called the Easting, and the Easting Beach was where we got engaged.

They are planning to host a party once the restrictions are lifted.

All about the wedding dress

Laura dress is made in a lovely soft pure silk chiffon satin in ivory colour.  It was lined in silk satin. It had a lovely deep ruched belt, at the waist. and the fine silk was gathered to the necktie. The back had the lovely ties hanging down and buttons and loops on the belt. The train could button up for the reception.
